We are a running club for distance runners. Runners interested in training for half and full marathons should consider us. As we enter our second decade, the North Shore Distance Running Club has successfully trained hundreds of runners to run their best marathon or half marathon. Cumulatively, our members have completed well over 600 marathons. This vast wealth of knowledge and experience has been recognized by CARA, who has chosen to partner with the NSDRC for their Winter and Summer Marathon Training Programs. We conduct training programs for half and full marathons year round, targeting a local race in the spring and in the fall. We have runners training from 8 minutes per mile to over 12 minute miles. Of course, you are welcome to join us for the social and fitness benefits, even if you aren't planning on running a marathon or half marathon.
We will be commencing our winter program on Saturday, December 17th. As always, we will start at 7 am from the East Lake Forest Train Station – 701 N. McKinley Road. Anyone is welcome to join us, whether you are training for a spring marathon or just want to stay in shape over the winter. We have designed a program that will cater to runners training for Boston,Illinois, Big Sur, or Wisconsin marathons. Plus, the routes enable everyone to run together for most of the course. Even folks not running a spring marathon can participate, and only run the first loop, which is generally 8 to 11 miles. Anyone is welcome to join, whether you are an NSDRC alumni, a former CARA Marathon Training Program participant, or have just heard about us through word of mouth.
